Dungeon Navigator 3D

The actual project was done with Artificial Reality on the iPhone. Due to limitations for sharing such an application version, only the 3D application is available.

Become the Overseer that guides a group of Robots that have been tasked with collecting the treasures within a dungeon floor. Use your bird's eye view to get as many of the 3 to the exit alive whilst collecting as many coins as you can. Watch out for spike traps, lava traps, and swinging pendulums!

Controls:

• Move - WASD
• Turn - Q or E
• Reset Camera - R
• Rotate Camera - Right click + drag
• Move Camera - Left click + drag
• Ascend or Descend Camera - Scroll Wheel

How this can be expanded upon

For games, I could have these dungeons be randomly generated. The app could base the random generation seed off of what is on a QR code or Barcode. They wouldn’t even need to be made specifically for the app either. When I was young there were handheld devices called Skannerz Commander that could scan a barcode on a store product and proceed to collect or fight monsters created from that barcode. For my application a young lad could go to their box of Fruit Loops and see what dungeon is contained within.

For more real-world applications my application could be used with a multi-group team that is accomplishing some objective with one group in the field and another providing navigation. For example, Emergency Services could have a Navigator use the application to see the floor plan of the building a field team is entering and guide them. In the case where the field team has never been there before, the navigator could route them to their destination from a bird’s eye view. The navigator could also see any hazards in their way and redirect them accordingly.

Instead of displaying a single floor on a flat surface the app could instead display all of the people and obstacles within a physical model instead.
